Dear Jonathan Edwards Alums and Friends,
As many of you know, the Jonathan Edwards Trust, founded over 50 years ago, shepherds an endowment that supports the JE community of students, fellows, and alumni by helping to fund programs and initiatives that enhance the social, cultural, and educational life of the college. From funding JE’s unique “Culture Draw,” which allows many students to experience live opera, dance, theater, and music performances, to “fireside chats” for sophomores, to enhancements for the JE Press, to furnishing lighting for the college theater, over the years, the trustees have worked with the Head of College to identify areas that would benefit from the Trust’s support.

On June 11th, the JE Trust hosted a photo booth and a pickup site for free mini JE Foam Fingers. It was a fun way to celebrate being a part of “the best residential college”. Live with Carnegie Hall: Music as Medicine

They are on the frontlines in the fight against COVID-19, doing everything possible to keep the world healthy, but when they are not in hospitals or research labs, many medical professionals find creative outlet as gifted musicians. Join Carnegie Hall as we showcase their musical talents, including special performances by the National Virtual Medical Orchestra and countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo, and a guest appearance by violinist Joshua Bell.
Join two JE alumni for this online musical event, artistic director Ab Sengupta JE’94 and program participant Dr. Esther Choo Kim JE’94.

Voices: Yale Women of Faith, Featuring Rabbi Angela Buchdahl (JE ’94)

Join 50WomenAtYale150 for a conversation led by University Chaplain Sharon Kugler with Yale women of various faith traditions. They will explore the ways that their respective faiths carry them through times of uncertainty. She will be joined by Sarah Birmingham Drummond ’93 (Christianity) Rabbi Angela Buchdahl ’94 (Judaism), Nila Bala ’12 JD (Hinduism), and Didem Kaya-Bayram ’16 (Islam).

A Conversation with Anne Wojcicki JE ’96, CEO & Co-founder, 23andMe

In October, Anne Wojcicki (JE ’96) joined President Peter Salovey for a Yale School of Management Gordon Grand Fellowship Lecture. They discussed her views on science, her time at Yale, and her career in healthcare investment and genomics. In particular, Wojckicki shared her experience founding 23andMe, a genomics company that focuses on bringing personalized genetic and medical information directly to consumers.

2016 Tetelman Lecture: Jennifer Doudna

For the first time in history, the Nobel Prize in Chemistry went to two women. One of the prize-winning women is Jennifer Doudna, who was a Yale faculty member from 1994–2002, before moving to University of California, Berkeley. However, she came back to Yale in 2016 to deliver JE’s Tetelman Lecture, one of the most important science/engineering lectureships at Yale. Professor Doudna spent two days at Yale, lecturing and also meeting with JE students and fellows. Her lecture was on her work with CRISPR-based gene editing, the discovery that led to her Nobel Prize.
